La merveille de ballade qui clôt Desire avant d'aller se coucher.
Longtemps ma préférée du disque, découvert à un âge fort tendre et impressionnable. Maintenant, je ne suis plus si sûr, d'autres lui contestent sérieusement cette préférence.

J'adore la jouer, je commence les couplets Mi mineur/La mineur/Ré/Mi mineur, et pour les refrains, vroum grâce au Sol /La mineur/Ré/Mi mineur. C'est ce que j'appelle une montée confondante avec une économie de moyens admirable (sns être certain que ce soient vraiment les accords, d'ailleurs   ).

Sinon, pour beaucoup d'exégètes, c'est surtout l'affirmation (ou confirmation) "Stayin’ up for days in the Chelsea Hotel / Writin’ “Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands” for you". J'ai toujours trouvé dommage que certains la réduisent à ce vers révélateur.

Tiens, c'est marrant, je la joue aussi comme ça à la guitare, avec la même formule ! C'est une des rares de Dylan que mes talents de débutants peuvent s'accaparer. Et comme je connais par coeur les paroles, que j'ai longtemps récité lors de mes peines amoureuses, c'est nickel.

Oui, moi aussi, c'est une favorite des premières années où j'étais fan de Dylan et où je tombais amoureux à tous les coins de rues ("Desire" est de toute façon, avec "BOTT" bien sûr, l'album de l'amour). Je la trouve toujours très belle, mystique et bouleversante. Je pense à chaque fois à ce divorce et à l'émotion qu'avait Dylan lors de ses interprétations dans la Rolling Thunder.

Si je dis pas de bêtises, je crois même me souvenir d'une version (dans "Renaldo & Clara" peut-être) où on voit des larmes couler sur ses joues et son maquillage blanc durant cette chanson. En attendant, c'est la version du "Bootleg Series Vol.5" qui reste ma favorite.
