c'est amusant de voir cette notoriété pour une chanson anecdotique. D'ailleurs elle n'aurait jamais dû paraître officiellement, Dylan l'a mise en boite pour faire plaisir à un marmot

Je crois que ça a eu le même effet en Espagne. L'Europe devait être gagné par le reggae en 79-80.

Je dis ça parce que j'avais acheté le 45 tours en 2011 à Barcelone. Dans ma coloc de l'époque, c'était la seule galette et elle tournait en boucle quand on avait un peu trop bu et qu'on voulait danser bêtement. Et puis on la retournait et on pleurait en écoutant "When He Returns".

Donc je m'y suis attaché à ce morceau, ou plutôt à cette comptine digne d'un livre de catéchisme à l'école primaire.

Je n'ai pas écouté Slow Train Coming depuis longtemps et ce n'est pas cette chanson qui me donne envie d'y revenir (Precious Angel et When he Returns plus par contre)

Et puisqu'on évoque les souvenirs : mon premier contact avec cette chanson était chez le co-compositeur de mon premier groupe. Celui-là même qui avait osé ne pas aimer Sad-Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands parce que c'était une escroquerie, 12 minutes pareil de toujours les mêmes couplets et refrains. Alors que chez Genesis, Monsieur, une suite de 12 minutes se devait d'avoir au moins 6 ou 7 thèmes différents. Si. Authentique. Et ben, parce que c'était vrai ou pour me venger, je lui ai dit que je trouvais Slow Train Coming très bof. Na ! (*).
Quand je suis passé au premier Clash et au Gun Club, c'était consommé et le groupe n'a pas duré plus longtemps. M'en fous : je suis parti avec le guitariste lead (facile, c'était mon p'tit frère) et le batteur. Na !

Je ne l'ai écouté qu'une seule fois. Quelques considérations quelque part sur le forum doivent témoigner de ma perplexité lors de cette première écoute.
J'y reviendrai peut-être un jour, mais il m'a fait l'effet d'être le moins bon de la trilogie.
