"Highway 61" étant mon album favori de tous les temps, je vais avoir du mal à être objectif sur les morceaux qui le compose. Qui sont les trucs que j'ai écouté le plus dans ma vie et dont je connais chaque recoin par coeur sans jamais me lasser.

C'est le cas de "Tombstone Blues", qui après l'intro folle de LARS, renouvelle l'ambition et le dynamisme, l'imagerie et la cavalcade.

Je pourrais en dire tellement sur ce morceau... A la place, je vous remets la très belle reprise acoustique de Richie Havens qu'on trouve sur la B.O. de "I'm Not There" (même si elle est plus sage finalement, moins chiot fou, plus vieux loup de mer) :

La batterie ! La batterie !
Mais que lui avait fait sa caisse claire pour qu'il tape dessus comme ça ?

Et les riffs de furieux de Bloomfield !

Soyons fous : et si c'était ça, l'invention du hard-rock ?

Chaque fois que j'entends le refrain, je me dis que cette chanson est un tube en puissance, même aujourd'hui. S'il l'avait sortit en single, elle aurait fait fureur, au même titre que Like a Rolling Stone. C'était un titre qui parvient vraiment à accrocher et à s'imposer dans ton esprit, malgré son côté foutraque et furieux, peut-être justement grâce à son énergie, et encore une fois à son refrain.
