Un morceau en hommage au bluesman Charley Patton, dont le titre reprend son morceau "High Water Everywhere". Elle contient également une référence à Robert Johnson.
Le texte est lui aussi inspiré des inondations de 1927 en Louisiane.  
C'est Larry Campbell qui joue le banjo.

Un grand morceau de Love & Theft ! Aujourd'hui, sur scène, il a un peu perdu de sa splendeur

Une immense chanson, un des sommets de l'écriture dylanienne. C'est presque une encyclopédie du blues que Dylan a écrite.

C'est vrai qu'elle s'accommode moins bien de l'ambience actuelle du NET mais c'est toujours un plaisir de l'entendre en live (on trouve quand même d'excellentes versions jusqu'à l'été dernier). Je ne pense pas que Dylan la mette de côté avant quelques décennies.

Comme la plupart des gens j'imagine, j'aime doublement cette chanson. Premièrement pour la version studio, son charme roots et authentique et une ligne vocale que j'adore, et deuxièmement pour la version live déchaînée, sur laquelle j'aurais pu bouger mon cul comme jamais (si j'avais été là ce jour là   ).
